1 Week Left & An Awesome Leg Workout

Hello!!! It has been so long since we last talked- how is everyone doing? I am doing quite splendid because I had a lovely time with my family and friends, playing board games, resting, and eating great food! Let's recap, shall we?

Most of my Friday was spent at work attempting and failing to play volleyball, training some people, drawing an anatomically correct heart, and teaching a spin class! I am learning how to teach various group exercise classes for my internship. I must say, spin was the one class that I was most nervous about teaching. However, Friday was my 3rd-ish class that I have taught and I finally feel like I am getting the hang of things!

After work, I met up with a few friends to eat Bruxie waffles and play Cranium. Me and my partner, Christina totally pwned face! ;) We had an awesome time playing and called it a night early.

On Saturday, I took Shanaz to a track by my house for a interval training session. With my calf on the fritz, I opted to stand on the sideline while Shanaz ran her laps & just took creepy pictures of her while I waited. I hope she doesn't mind. :) I am so excited because, in a few weeks, her and I will be running our 2nd half marathon together!

Sunday was spent cooking, cooking, and more cooking! I will share the yummy recipes I made up a little later this week, but I can tell you for now that I am super excited to share them with you!

I also hit up the gym with Kevin and Jake for a bit and did some weights before doing some light cardio on the bike. My calf was feeling really tight & I am trying not to screw it up more before the half marathon, so I thought that the bike was my safest bet.

Before the bike, I did weights with Kevin and Jake. I began my workout with a few corrective exercises for my legs & then learned a new dead lift, a la Kevin. After completing 3 sets of 12, my legs and gluts were burning and I KNEW I just had to share this awesome workout with you all! Here it is:

I love doing Wide Leg Dead Lifts for many reasons:
  • It helps me to help build more strength and stability in my hips
  • Because I am progressing my strength and transistioning my weight training to olympic lifting, these dead lifts are a great stepping stone in that direction
  • I deperately need to strengthen my gluts and this dead lift does just that!

With 1 week left of winter break, I find myself excited to get back to school! I am taking a lot of fun classes with my friends from school, so I can't wait to start! Plus, seeing as this is my last Spring semester of undergrad, I am pretty stoked to get this semester going so I can finish! One of my friends asked me if I had planned a graduation party and I just gave her a blank stare. I thought to myself, “I get one of those?” :) But, ever since she said that, I have been more then excited to finish and finally earn my degree!

Okay, enough school talk. I have to get going. I have got a fun-filled day lined up at work. Catch you later!

My Question For You Is…

  • How was your weekend?
  • Did you have a graduation party for high school/ college?

See ya~Kay

  3. Look at you go, teaching spin classes! I think that’d be fun….I’d love to put together a crazy playlist to try out ;) I’ve never done a wide leg dead lift before, but I will definitely be trying them tomorrow! And I can’t wait to see this recipe later in the week…you always have good ones :)

    • Omg you can come up with crazy-fun playlists for spin anytime! I need all the help I can get- I listen to classic rock and folk music, which isn’t the best for spin haha
